We believe that true eco-tourism goes hand in hand with active conservation. It is not just about exploring the incredible environments around us, but taking practical steps to ensure they thrive for generations to come.
Recently, we had a fantastic day out in the field working alongside conservation experts to protect some of our most vulnerable native wildlife: ground-nesting seabirds.
Together, we set up a new acoustic “song meter” in the area. This fascinating piece of technology allows us to safely monitor the calls and potential nesting activity of petrels and shearwaters. By listening to the landscape, we can gather crucial scientific data on their presence and habits without causing them any disturbance.
Because these seabirds nest on the ground, they face significant threats from introduced predators. To help minimize these risks and give the birds a safe haven to breed, we also installed a self-resetting predator-control trap.
Taking an active role in conservation efforts is at the heart of our mission. It was a great day of teamwork, science, and practical action to protect the ecosystem we love sharing with all of you.
