Important Information
To enjoy the Inland Discoveries Walk to the fullest — and safely — it’s important to come prepared and understand what to expect along the way

✅ Route Overview. The route begins with approximately 6.5 kilometers of mostly flat terrain, offering a gentle introduction to the walk. This is followed by a 2-kilometer ridge section that involves a gradual climb through lush inland forest. The trail reaches a maximum elevation of 180 meters, providing a moderate overall challenge. Along the way, there are a few short but steeper segments, all safely equipped with fixed ropes to assist your footing and balance. Your experienced guides will be by your side throughout, including during two shallow stream crossings where the water typically reaches ankle height.

✅ Physical Requirements. To fully enjoy the Inland Discoveries Walk, you should be physically able to walk comfortably for around four hours. Certain parts of the trail involve climbing and descending with the help of ropes, so it’s important that you feel confident navigating this type of terrain. For safety reasons, this tour is not recommended for those who have a fear of heights or suffer from medical conditions that affect the ankles, knees, hips, or back. Likewise, individuals with heart conditions, high or low blood pressure, asthma, or diabetes should consult with a healthcare provider before joining the walk..Guests over the age of 60 are more than welcome, but we do advise being in good physical condition to participate safely. Above all, your well-being and enjoyment are our priorities. Wherever possible, we’ll adjust the pace or route to suit your needs, ensuring a safe and positive experience for everyone.

✅ Important Advice. Please keep in mind that all tours are weather-dependent. If heavy rain or unsafe conditions are forecast, the walk will be postponed or rescheduled to ensure everyone’s safety—your well-being is always our top priority. Rarotonga’s climate is typically hot and humid, especially inland, so staying properly hydrated is essential. To prepare your body for the walk, we recommend avoiding alcohol beforehand and bringing at least one litre of water with you. It’s important to sip regularly throughout the tour to stay cool, energized, and comfortable from beginning to end.

✅ What to Bring. To make the most of your Inland Discoveries Walk, we recommend bringing a few essential items to keep you comfortable, safe, and prepared for the journey. First and foremost, wear comfortable walking shoes—preferably ones you don’t mind getting a bit wet or muddy, as the trail may include damp or uneven sections. Mosquito repellent is a must to protect yourself from bites, especially when passing through shaded or forested areas. Staying hydrated is also key, so be sure to carry at least one litre of water and sip regularly throughout the walk. We also encourage you to bring a camera or smartphone to capture the stunning views and special moments along the way. A wide-brimmed hat will help shield you from the sun, and applying reef-safe sunscreen will protect your skin while helping preserve the island’s delicate ecosystems. With these few items in your backpack, you’ll be ready to enjoy the experience to the fullest.
